Nerulls Stone Act I.

Nerull’s Stone

ACT I.

The details are a little fuzzy cuz it’s been a while, so if I’ve forgotten any necessary details, please let me know.

Our characters met in Oak Bridges. A little town West of Consortin, in the western district of the Mandalorian Empire. The bar tender in Oak Bridges told us a rumor about an orc named Kraken Gulp who had burnt down a small mining community somewhere to the North of us in a town called Burmont. Later that evening we got into a scuffle with some rowdy locals and ended up killing one of them. Consequently we had to flee the town. The bartender came to us and told us about an old fort across the Shallow River where we could hide out from the violent townsmen for a while.

A ranger named Tarkin, a relative of one of our companions, went looking for us and found us at the old fort. Tarkin explains the strange orcish and goblin behavior in the area. Along with the ill omened behavior of the wolves in Even Wood. Thorivere the druid, a native of nearby Elven Wood also joins our party. He’s been noticing a lot of strange animal behavior in the western woods and has made it his personal mission to find out what’s going on.

The fort turned out to be a 300 year old legion construction. A small scouting party led by a Captain of the legion had used it in ages past as a base of operations for orc skirmishes. We found a journal in the ready room of the fort, left behind by the Captain, detailing events that had taken place over 300 years ago. The journal described how even then, the orcish tribes of western Mandoria had dealings with Nerull’s followers (a mysterious cult).

History tells us the orcs of the time were defeated when King Burroughs VIII sent General Calbardo (more widely known as Conqueror Calbardo) and his legions to the newly settled western district.

We fought many battles at the fort; against worgs, goblins and vengeful townsmen. Tarkin fell in battle when the townsmen attacked. After burying Tarkin we headed North following kobold tracks to a cave where we fought and defeated spiders, kobolds, worgs and even a dark necromancer of Nerull. In the necromancers lair we found a small gem stone emitting an eerie green light.

Having exited the cave we came upon a small goats trail leading over and around the mountain and onto the trail that makes its way from Consortin to Burmont.



I’d like to include the characters names and stats of the time if anyone still has that information. I cant remember everyone and everything so help me out…

Nerull’s Stone

ACT II.

The town of Burmont is a few stone cottages skewered and scarred in black. An untouched wooden archway welcomes visitors along the path. Rubble is everywhere, burnt and hacked up bodies dot the town scape.

The characters entered the ruins of Burmont to find 2 legionnaires already in battle with Hobgoblins. The party joined the battle. Soon after words, 2 ogres and a powerful Orc joined the fight.

As you enter the battle, 2 large hulking brutes let out a dumb sounding, but powerful roar as they smash the remaining cobble stoned walls of a house nearby and enter the fray. They each stand 9 1/2 feet tall with huge ugly heads. Their hair is nappy, long and naturally dreaded. Their skin is a filthy dark brown. Rusted iron collars are clasped about their necks with a long chain connecting the two. The chain itself is heavily spiked, tightly grasped with one hand about 30 ft back by a fully armored personage slightly over 6 ft. tall.

After the battle was won, the legionnaires introduce themselves as Marcus and Johan. They were out hunting for Orc ear’s. They showed us a decree, recently written by Senator Vambraldt, stating the value and reward for Orc ears.

Marcus and Johan explained what happened in Burmont. Stating that the marauding tribe of Orcs led by the fearsome Kraken Gulp sacked the town for whatever reason Orcs deem necessary to sack towns. They also knew where Kraken Gulp and his tribe were camped and explained that it was only a half dozen miles North of us.

Our heroes camped that night with Marcus and Johan. Deciding to leave the two legionnaires on watch while the group tried to catch up on some much needed rest. It was an ill fated decision and a black night for many of the heroes sleeping soundly there. For Marcus and Johan fell asleep while on duty, allowing rogue goblins to creep up silently on the group, killing many in their sleep.

After that tragic night, Marcus and Johan traveled ashamedly back to Consortin, while the heroes went on to Kraken Gulp’s camp. There we saw a White Guard Wizard being tied to a totem and tortured. The heroes attacked. Fighting Orcs, Goblins, HobGoblins, Ogres, and even Kraken Gulp himself. The whole Orcish tribe fought and each member of the tribe died in their futile efforts.

After freeing the White Guard Wizard, we find out his name was William. William joined the party.

Act III.

After defeating Kraken Gulp our heroes crossed a precarious rope bridge to the other side of a wide ravine. On the far side of the ravine was an entrance to a cave. Within the cave our characters found many Goblin Engineers building a massive Golem like construct. Scaffolds and work crews surrounded the 4 storied object. At the top most scaffolding deck stood a necromancer dressed in rustic robes with a skull mask hiding his facial features. A large spectral hand hovered near him, awaiting his command.

Here is where our heroes learned that the cult of Nerull was using Kraken Gulp’s tribe to raid the mining community of Burmont in order to build there massive weapon, a giant golem. One eerie green gem stone was already embedded in the left eye of the golem – an identical twin to the stone our heroes picked up earlier in their adventures and now carried. The right eye of the golem was a lonely barren socket. Our heroes quickly learned that the stone’s of Nerull (the eerie green gem stones) have a dominating will of their own, and the stone’s wanted to activate that golem.

One of our heroes, by the name of Nathaniel, was overcome by the stone’s deadly will. The bewitched Nathaniel tried desperately to place the stone he carried in the barren socket of the construct while the rest of our heroes fought the necromancer and vied to intervene. DingleDorf our adventuring Wizard, cast “Evard’s Black Tentacles” bringing the scaffolding down around the inactive golem. Giving the party enough time to kill the necromancer and wrestle the stone from the hands of Nathaniel before the giant creation was activated.
